About Dr. Mericle
Overweight and hypertensive in 1977 Dr. Mericle became vegan and started running. Maybe the title of this should be “how to lose 40 pounds and keep them off for 30 years while you improve your health and fitness level and reduce your risk of serious disease.”
Online since December, 2000, DrMericle.com is devoted to achieving optimal health and peak performance through diet and lifestyle change. Dr. Mericle brings together a unique blend of formal medical education, 29 marathons, 3 Hawaii Ironman competitions and a lot of practical real life experience.

As opposed to some other “health” guru’s, Dr. Mericle actually walks the walk. Maintaining an almost thirty year daily running streak and eating a sugar-free vegan diet (the MericleDiet), Dr. Mericle lives this diet which is actually more of a “lifestyle” than a diet program.

For as much as I have done to avoid disease, my early years ingesting animal products to my later years ingesting Pepsi, I did a lot of damage. Now as I grow older, my latitude for dietary and lifestyle indiscretion becomes less and less. I now have stopped all bottled beer including Warsteiner and only have three or four beers a week (on tap only), not nightly as I used to do.
